BATON ROUGE, LOUISIANA:
General Informatics, an IT managed services provider and network infrastructure company, is excited to celebrate the achievements recognized to CEO & President, Donald Monistere. Monistere was named the 2022 Distinguished Alumnus for the College of Business at Southeastern Louisiana University.
This distinction is awarded to high achieving alumni that have shown success in their professions, service to the University, and contributions to their community. The Southeastern Alumni Association established its awards program in 1969 to honor outstanding graduates and to celebrate their achievements.
Monistere currently serves on the Board of Directors for the College of Business. As an active board member and alumni, Monistere participates as a judge for the college’s sales competitions as well as a regular guest speaker to multiple business classes.
“When I came back to Louisiana two years ago I visited Southeastern’s campus and was amazed with what the College of Business was doing. I saw this as an opportunity to invest in their continuous growth as well as give back to a university that has influenced much of my success,” says Don Monistere, CEO & President of General Informatics.
In recognition of this honorable award and Southeastern’s Homecoming Week, multi events took place October 6th – 8th, 2022 in Hammond, LA.
Influence to Inspiration
The College of Business students gathered in a packed room to hear Monistere speak on Influence to Inspiration.
While presenting, Monistere shared the story of his grandfather, Joseph “Chief” Piediscalzo, and the influence he had on him and many other students and instructors at Southeastern. Chief was a custodian for over 20 years at Southeastern, but viewed by many as a teacher by how he inspired those around him.
“Influence is something we execute; something we can do for others or others can do for us. Inspiration is more personal. Inspiration is something that happens inside of us. If you start with influence, that influence many times can lead to inspiration. The more you focus on successfully executing the things you do well, more often that will lead to inspiration.”

The Joseph “Chief” Piediscalzo Multimedia & Distance Learning Studio
Southeastern’s new Multimedia & Distance Learning Studio was dedicated to Joseph “Chief” Piediscalzo. The Piediscalzo and Monistere family donated the technology within the studio which will provide students and instructors the opportunity to gain advanced media skills and offer a better virtual learning environment. Monistere installed the equipment himself in honor of his grandfather, Chief.
